Stairs can be built using closed or open stringers, or a combination of both, depending on the design of your home. Stairs can also be made using traditional, closed rises; however, we specialize in open rise stairs, which can be used to make a home feel brighter and more open. Winders can be used to add visual interest to home, or to fit stairs into a tight space. Our stairs are made using a wide variety of wood materials, including; red or white oak, maple, birch, ash, black cherry or Brazilian cherry. Typical construction includes solid hardwood steps with veneered stringers and plywood rises to match the steps, however, we can custom create each set of stairs to meet your unique requirements. Carpet and paint grade stairs are also available. They are usually made from solid pine steps, white pine stringers and spruce plywood rises.

Railings

We design and install modern and traditional railings in a variety of materials, including wood, metal and glass.

Balusters (Spindles)

Customers may choose from a variety of high quality balusters. Some of our most popular wood balusters are pictured below. Each type of baluster is available in various types of wood that can include red oak, maple, American cherry, Brazilian cherry, birch and mahogany or primed white. Coordinating newel posts are available and can be used to compliment any decor.

Here are some samples of railings and balusters that we work with. We source our materials from Bezdan. Check out more examples of railings and balusters/spindles here.

Marilyn and Arthur’s Story

When we were building our new house, I had cut out pictures of staircases that I liked. I showed Ron of Ron Wilson Stairs my pictures and he built my stairs exactly as I wanted. They suit our two story hallway perfectly and I especially like the rounded bottom step – the finishing touch. Delivery and installation was on time and efficient. I would highly recommend Ron Wilson Stairs for any set of stairs that you need built. You won’t be sorry. We asked Stonecrest Railings and Stairs to make the railings for our new stairs and along the second floor landing. Allan was very helpful picking out the handrail profile and the type of spindles. He even made the three newel posts himself as he felt the purchased ones were too expensive. They turned out beautifully and I would suggest that anyone needing railings hire Stonecrest Railings and Stairs. Delivery was prompt and Installation just took a day. Highly recommended!

I want to thank you for the beautiful New Stairs and railings you did at my house on Corkery Road. My wife is extremely pleased with the staircase. I had very good comments from my friends and relatives as well.
